Macadamia Milk

⚠ Not in the USDA Database: Macadamia milk doesn’t have its own entry in the USDA FoodKeeper database, which sources our other 732 food storage pages. The guidance below comes directly from Milkadamia’s own product labeling and FAQ, the category’s leading brand.

Once opened, macadamia milk lasts 7–10 days in the fridge — confirmed directly on Milkadamia’s own product label. Unopened, shelf-stable cartons don’t need refrigeration at all until opened, and the label is explicit: do not freeze.

How long does macadamia milk last in the fridge?

Milkadamia’s own product label states plainly: “Do not freeze. Refrigerate after opening and use within 7-10 days.” This is confirmed directly on their packaging, and also echoed by their own seller response on a customer question: “Our recommended guideline is 7-10 days after opening when stored in the refrigerator.”

Milkadamia’s own FAQ confirms unopened cartons don’t need refrigeration at all: “If you found us in the cooler, keep us cooled. Otherwise, milkadamia is fine in your pantry until you open it. After opened, the fridge is your friend.”

As with any perishable, don’t leave an open carton out of the fridge for more than two hours per USDA’s Danger Zone guidance.

Can you freeze macadamia milk?

Milkadamia’s own label is direct about this: “Do not freeze.” Like other nut-based milks on this site, freezing tends to cause separation and a grainy texture once thawed, and the manufacturer explicitly advises against it rather than just discouraging it as a quality preference.

How to tell if macadamia milk has gone bad

  • Smell: a sour or distinctly “off” odor beyond its normal mild, nutty smell
  • Texture: clumping or curdling that doesn’t recombine with a shake, or lumpiness from bacterial growth
  • Appearance: yellowing or browning beyond its normal creamy color
  • Packaging: a bloated or swollen carton — toss without tasting

Storage tips

  • Shake well before each use
  • Store opened macadamia milk toward the back of the fridge, not the door
  • Reseal the cap tightly after every pour
  • Write the open date on the carton — 7-10 days goes by quickly
  • Unopened shelf-stable cartons can stay in the pantry until opened

Why isn’t macadamia milk covered by USDA?

FreezerOrFridge.com’s 732 core pages pull their storage times from the USDA FoodKeeper database, which includes other plant milks like soy and rice but doesn’t currently include macadamia milk — a newer, smaller-volume entrant that hasn’t made it into that federal dataset yet. This page instead relies on Milkadamia’s own published guidance.
